The Illingworth Seddon Charity Golf Day 2023

We recently hosted our annual charity golf day for clients and associates at the brilliant Carden Park Hotel and Spa, which was bathed in sunshine once again as a field of 80 players took to the Cheshire course.

The event is a huge favourite for all involved, and one we look forward to organizing every year. A huge thanks as always go out to the staff at Carden Park who ensure the day goes as smooth as possible, as well as the course being in immaculate condition.

The day began with all 20 teams registering with the ever popular Claire before heading for breakfast. Everyone then took to their buggies ready for the shotgun start, before heading out onto the Cheshire to compete in various challenges on the course. These included the longest drive, beat the pro contest with the players favourite and our resident Carde pro golfer, Mike Platt, plus a bumper ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition where players had the opportunity to win a brand new Taylor Made Spyder putter.

After a hot day with plenty of laughs, cheers and groans heard from around the course, we concluded with drinks in the bar and a 3 course dinner in ‘Jack’s Club’ while the scores were collated.

With a fantastic Texas Scramble score of 55 (or -17 to those in the know) our friends from Atlantic Steel took home the trophy this year, pipping defending champions the Jolly Boys by half a shot.

The main aim of the golf day however is to raise money for Charity, which once again proved to be a huge success. This year was a cause particularly close to our hearts, due to the sad loss of our friend Jason McGlaughlin earlier this year. Jason was a regular at our golf day and has been a great friend to many of us at Illingworth Seddon for some time.

We managed to raise just over £7000, which will go to the Wrexham Maelor Kidney Transplant Support Services, who provided great support to Jason and his family during his kidney related problems and subsequent transplant.

Everyone at Illingworth Seddon would like to extend our sincere gratitude to those taking part in the event, it is the sheer generosity and high spirits of everyone involved which makes the day so special, and we look forward to putting on another great event in 2024.
